The GOP-led legislature in Kansas overrode a veto by Democrat Gov. Laura Kelly to enact the “women’s bill of rights,” which defines what a “woman” is in state law based on reproductive biology.
According to the law, a woman is defined as someone “whose biological reproductive system is developed to produce ova.”
A “male” is defined as someone whose reproductive system “is developed to fertilize the ova of a female.”
On Wednesday, Florida’s legislature passed a similar bill to clarify biological distinctions between a man and a woman.
According to the Florida bill, sex is defined using characteristics like “chromosomes, naturally occurring sex hormones, and internal and external genitalia present at birth.” Read more…
