Newsom Says California ‘Done’ With Walgreens Over Abortion Pills

California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom said on Monday his state would cut ties with Walgreens following the drugstore chain’s decision not to sell abortion pills in nearly two dozen states.

“California won’t be doing business with [Walgreens] – or any company that cowers to the extremists and puts women’s lives at risk,” Newsom tweeted. “We’re done.”

A spokesperson for Newsom further noted that “all relationships” between Walgreens and California are under review, according to Reuters.

A Walgreens representative declined to comment on Newsom’s tweet but did share a general statement with The Daily Wire about Mifepristone, one of two drugs used in medical abortions.

“We want to be very clear about what our position has always been: Walgreens plans to dispense Mifepristone in any jurisdiction where it is legally permissible to do so,” a Walgreens spokesperson said. Read more…
