Paul Joseph Garcia, 24, is currently facing charges of driving while under the influence and manslaughter after allegedly fatally striking a pedestrian with his car and then driving off with the dead pedestrian in his car. Rather than taking the person to the hospital, Garcia drove the car to a location half a mile from the scene and then left the car with the body still inside, according to USA Today.
“He is being charged with intoxication manslaughter because he was driving without regard for the safety of others, including continuing to drive for one-half miles with a half-mangled body in the car,” stated police. Witnesses came forward and stated that Garcia hit an unidentified person while they crossed the street and he failed to stop prior to the accident. The person hit by Garcia suffered from traumatic head injuries and they were missing parts of their body. Garcia is in the Travis County Correctional Complex, and according to Travis County records, he has a combined bail set to the amount of $110,000.
