This week, the Second Amendment prevailed in Virginia — thanks to an unlikely ally in State Senator Chap Petersen a Democrat who voted to reject an egregious bill backed by anti-gun zealot Governor Northam.
The bill would have banned the sale of so-called “assault-style” weapons in Virginia. The stunning 11th-hour defeat was a monumental setback for the newly created Democratic-controlled government within the state, which has made gun confiscation a centerpiece of their political agenda.
However as the votes were being counted, something strange began to occur, the 4-moderate Democrats sitting on the fence decided to join Republicans to shelve the bill until next year.
When the final tally was read, the crowd of gun-rights activists packing the committee room began to cheer, the battle in protecting the spirit of the Second Amendment had weathered the assault from the anti-gun extremists.
The bill will not be reintroduced until at least 2021, with this legislative session ending on March 7th allowing both sides to regroup.
