Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has just bought himself a place on the next Democratic debate stage without ever setting foot on the campaign trail, to the dismay of his Democratic rivals.
The DNC witnessing the near-collapse of their “heir apparent” Joe Biden, along with a surging Bernie Sanders, has decided to throw a “hail-Mary” pass to the tiny billionaire, hoping that Bloomberg will emerge as the Democratic nominee and sabotage the Sanders campaign.
However, Bloomberg is a deeply flawed candidate, with the same unique baggage that derailed Hillary Clinton. Take his recently uncovered interviews from 2011 and 2016 denigrating women, African Americans, and even our nation’s farmers.
Bloomberg is cut from that same mold; ironically even a former Hillary staffer recognizes Mike’s “shortcomings.” In a recent interview, ex-staffer Zerlina Maxwell dismissed the rumors that Hillary would be considered Bloomberg’s running mate and zeroed in on the man himself.
“I’m highly skeptical of this particular report and I think, in some ways, it’s to send a signal to the folks who still love Hillary Clinton, that they should look at Michael Bloomberg,” the former staffer explained. “But they should look at Bloomberg on his own record. He has plenty of issues that he needs to address. He has not been in a debate. He has not done a national interview on television, so, right now; he’s blanketing the airwaves with glossy advertisements. And if millions of dollars in advertisements didn’t work to sell products, even defective ones, they wouldn’t spend so much on advertising.”
If rumors are correct, Bloomberg has thus far spent nearly a half-billion dollars, moreover as the 12th richest person on earth, he can easily afford to buy off political pundits and has-been news reporters like a Sam Donaldson — while Bloomberg News refuses to print any negative coverage of their boss, no matter how true.
