Maryana Beyder is suing a country club in New Jersey for $30,000 after a waiter spilled wine on her expensive pink purse, according to a report in the New York Post. Based on the lawsuit filed by Beyder, a server of the Alpine Country Club in Demarest stained her Hermes handbag with red wine and then spilled wine on her fiancé.
When both her insurance company and the country club ignored her request to be reimbursed for the damages, she filed suit for the money she claimed would replace her bag. “She was somewhat discriminated against because they couldn’t believe that she actually owned a bag like that,” stated Alexandra Errico, Beyder’s lawyer. Beyder attempted for almost one year to receive restitution for her damaged bag but to no avail. According to the lawsuit filed by Beyder, the country club was negligent when it hired the waiter—who they defined as “clumsy” and incompetent.
