Planned Parenthood refuses to participate in the federal Title X program, which provides such services as contraception to low-income individuals, after restrictions were placed by the Trump administration on what a group can say about abortion if using Title X funds, according to HuffPost.
The new rule from the Trump administration states that Title X recipients could talk about abortion with their patients, but it prohibited them from giving people information about where to get an abortion, the name of a provider, or a clinic location. Planned Parenthood treats more than 40% of over 4 million people in the United States who benefit from Title X funding.
In the past, the organization received millions from the program, although the definitive amount is not published or shared. “This is not about Planned Parenthood’s budget,” stated Alexis McGill Johnson, the acting president of Planned Parenthood. “This is about our patients and the attack on reproductive health care,” she continued.
