The Masterpiece Cakeshop is currently being sued for the third time by a transgender woman after she was refused service, according to Fox News. Jack Phillips is the owner of the cakeshop, and this lawsuit will mark the third suit for discrimination against his company.
Although the bake shop serves members of the LGBTQ community, it halts those services when members of that community asks for wedding cakes or any other cakes that might celebrate the community itself. Phillips has made it clear that his religious beliefs make it impossible for him to make cakes that celebrate transgenders or the marriage of individuals of the same sex. Although Phillips refused to comment on the case being held against him and his bakeshop, it was revealed in statements from prior suits involving Phillips that he refuses to do something that goes against his faith.
Prior cases were won by Phillips—with one being a win from the Supreme Court when it ruled in his favor after he refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple.
