Suspicious: Arsons Reported Amid California Wildfires

A series of small fires flared up on Monday night in the Healdsburg area of Sonoma County, with arson suspected, reports the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.

At around 10 p.m., Press Democrat photographer Kent Porter was on the scene and first reported the blazes around 2-3 miles north of Healdsburg. Firefighters quickly contained the small fires that numbered up to 10, six of which were on Mill Creek Road.

The Sonoma County Scanner Updates feed on Twitter — a citizen-funded feed reporting scanner updates from police and fire agencies in the county — posted around midnight that arson was suspected and law enforcement were actively searching and patrolling the area.

State Senator Mike McGuire said via Twitter “there have been multiple suspicious fire starts over the last several hours,” and that firefighters were able to “stop most of the forward progress on the multiple fire starts.” Read more…
