Prepare yourself for the laugh of your life…only this time, it won’t be from the result of a human joke. Say hello to the new face of comedy – the very near future of comedy dished out by human-like robots.
Comedy is often a trait that is best given by a human because we tend to relate to the realistic examples that human comedians give in order to really stick a punchline. Well, you can say goodbye to the old days of comedy, thanks to artificial intelligence taking things a bit further with this stand-up comedian who just can’t seem to connect to his audience. Without a doubt, this comedian is really a human dressed up and acting like a robot…but still.
This “joke” is only a scratch at the surface of what is coming to a theater near you soon enough. Technology is already taking over many jobs that at one time required human existence. Now, computers can check you out in the check-out line at your local store, serve you drinks at your local bar, and can even drive you where you’d like to go without your input. These are all things that man once felt only he could do.
The main area that most humans felt would be safe from the technological invasion was that of the arts. Many people felt that robots couldn’t possibly create artistic forms of expression, given the fact that they were incapable of understanding the “soul” of art forms. Well, as it turns out, the soul is not the main ingredient to art any longer. There are actors and models being replaced by AI every day, and humans don’t seem to care. At what point will we realize that our very existence is being jeopardized by the very technology that we create? Hopefully we won’t realize it when it’s too late.
