Walmart has found itself in hot water after receiving major backlash from holiday sweaters that feature Santa Claus sitting in front of a line of cocaine and Father Christmas without pants roasting his “chestnuts” in front of a fire, according to the New York Post. Social media was set ablaze after the risqué seasonal sweaters were released in participating Walmart stores, all of which caused the retailer to pull the sweaters altogether.
“We have removed these products from our marketplace and we apologize for any unintended offense this may have caused,” stated a Walmart representative. After the release of the sweaters, which were sold by a third-party seller on Walmart.ca, people on social media shared their outrage with the insensitivity of the retail chain. All of the offensive sweaters were immediately pulled from the shelves and an official apology was released by Walmart.
