Michelle Passley, 44, was arrested and fired after the video camera on her school bus captured her drinking two cans of beer while driving the school bus filled with elementary students, according to ABC News. “When we put our children on the school bus in the morning, the idea is that we have placed our kids in the safekeeping of someone who is going to take good care of them,” stated Aurora Police Department Chief Kristen Ziman during a press conference.
“It’s infuriating to believe that someone who is trusted with these children on a daily basis could potentially put them in this kind of danger,” Ziman continued. Police were informed of Passley after they received a complaint from a manager at the First Student Bus Company. According to the department, “an observant convenience store clerk” called the school district after selling beer to Passley and then watching her climb into her school bus and drive off. Passley is charged with two counts of endangering the life of a child and was released on a $100 bond.
