Pamela Kreimeyer, 66, died on impact after being struck in the head by a pipe that exploded to reveal the gender of her son and daughter-in-law’s expecting baby. The family created a “pipe bomb” that included the color that would share the gender of the baby during a ceremony that included most of their family members and friends. The homemade device included gunpowder that exploded, sending pieces of metal flying into the air.
“The family got together for what they thought was going to be a happy event with no intent for anyone to get hurt,” said Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt in a statement. The event took place at the victim’s home where she served as the host for the gender reveal party which would tell her the gender of her soon-to-be grandchild.
