Hibiki Sato, 26, was arrested in Tokyo on suspicion of stalking a female celebrity after he studied the reflections on her pupils in selfies she had placed on social media, according to the New York Post. According to the report, Sato was able to study the reflections and then utilize Google Street View to find her home.
Upon finding her home, Sato hide behind a bush and then knocked the woman down prior to groping her. Sato was later arrested and charged. The incident led Tokyo to issue a major warning about casual selfies. “Casual selfies may show surrounding buildings that will allow people to identify the location of the photos,” stated a report in the Tokyo Shimbun. It was also warned to the public that they shouldn’t take photos making the V-sign because fingerprints could be stolen.
