The only thing more devastating than having to sit on a long flight is having to take that flight with a cranky ass kid onboard. Imagine a toddler screaming at the top of their lungs for 8 hours straight on a cramped and overcrowded flight, if you will. Well, unfortunately these folks didn’t have to imagine anything at all because they were forced to experience it first-hand.
An overcrowded flight from Germany had more than they could handle when a cranky 2-year-old cried, screamed and fussed the entire 8 hour flight. The kid’s mother helplessly attempted to appease him the entire flight as she sat there pretending not to see the angry stares she received from frustrated passengers. The flight attendants continued to ask what they could do, but the mom had no answers. Just watching this video is enough to upset anybody.
When you pay for a flight, there are a few things you expect. With any travel, you expect good service, a safe flight, and—if the flight’s a long one—a nice quiet, and relaxing experience. What happens, however, when you see a woman with a baby on your flight? We’ll tell you what happens! You immediately give the woman a dirty look because you know that she is holding a bundle of noise in her arms. Not many people will admit this, but it is truly what almost everyone thinks the moment they see a mother holding a baby or toddler on a flight.
It’s incredibly unfortunate that most flights don’t have a special section for mother’s with cranky kids. Oh the wonder of having a section of the flight that is soundproof and isolated from the rest of the passengers. Oh, well…wishful thinking. Until then, it will be nice if parents simply boarded the flight prepared for moments like this. Rather than attempting to ‘wing it’ with their kids, they should instead bring snacks, books, an iPad, and anything else that will keep their kids preoccupied. It’s the least they could do when others are forced to ride along with them.
