A police officer in Indianapolis apologized profusely after he blamed employees at a local McDonald’s of tampering with his sandwich, only to realize that he had taken a bite earlier in the day, according to Yahoo News. According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the police officer took a bite out of the sandwich before he started his shift and then placed the remaining sandwich in the refrigerator.
When the police officer returned several hours later he forgot that he took a bite of the sandwich, at which time he went to McDonald’s to demand an explanation. “He wrongly concluded that a McDonald’s restaurant employee had tampered with his food because he is a law enforcement officer,” read a statement from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The police officer has since officially apologized to the employees at McDonald’s for falsely accusing them of tampering with his food.
