American Airlines issued a statement and refund to a woman after they allegedly forced her to cover her body prior to boarding a flight, according to Business Insider.
The woman is identified as Tisha Rowe and she practices family medicine in Houston. Rowe had already boarded the flight in Kingston, Jamaica with her 8-year-old son but prior to the plane taking off, she was asked to follow the agent off of the plane for a ‘chat’ regarding her attire. The agent then told Rowe that she could not be readmitted onto the plane unless she covered herself with a blanket.
Rowe agreed for fear that she would lose her seat and her ability to get to her destination. After boarding the plane, Rowe took to social media and posted a picture of the romper she wore and then claimed the airline was discriminating against her because of her race. After gaining hundreds of comments and support, American Airlines released an apology through a public statement.
“We apologize to Dr. Rowe and her son for their experience, and have fully refunded their travel,” read the statement which was obtained by Fox News.
