I am 75 years old, I have heard some of these archaic sayings, but my mother never said this to me. I am my own person, if all women felt like me, they would know, there is no one on this earth that should stand to be mistreated by anyone. I believe you have to love yourself first, then let loving someone else come next. I never at a young age accepted this type of treatment, and certainly would not at this age. I personally think all mothers should be aware of the things that they allow to happen to them, your children might think this is acceptable behavior, and also allow it to happen to them. You have to respect yourself in order to be respected.
