President Trump tweeted an announcement that stated White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will step down from her post after 3 ½ years of service, according to the New York Times. Although Huckabee informed her staff one hour before Trump’s announcement, she did not feel it appropriate for her to tell the public herself.
According to the report, Huckabee relied on the president to inform the public of her stepping down, which is to occur at the end of the month. “She is a special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job,” read a tweet from Trump regarding his feelings on her departure.
“I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas—she would be fantastic,” Trump continued in his tweet. Huckabee has not commented publicly on her decision to leave. She has only stated to her staff that she is excited about going home to Arkansas.
