Elizbieta Poldesna, 51, allegedly created posters of the Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus with rainbow halos around their heads and it could lead to her imprisonment for up to 2 years, according to CNN.
Poldesna was charged for offending religious beliefs by depicting the religious icons with having an association or promotion of the LGBT lifestyle. The posters that caused the charges against Poldesna were not only found throughout the city of Plock, Poland, but they were also found in her car and home.
The posters created major backlash throughout the Catholic community across Poland from those who were highly offended by the Virgin Mary and Jesus having an LGBT rainbow halo. “No whim of freedom and ‘tolerance’ gives anyone the right to offend the feelings of believers,” tweeted Polish Interior Minister Joachim Brudzinski on social media.
