Nicholas Sandmann is a Covington Catholic High School student who became known for wearing a red MAGA hat while confronting a Native American elder outside the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., and he is now suing the media for millions over the media coverage he received, according to Fox News.
Not only has Sandmann launched a lawsuit against the Washington Post for $250 million and CNN for $275 million, but he now has a lawsuit against NBCUniversal for $275 million. Sandmann was the center of attention for the media after reports claimed he and his classmates had initiated a confrontation with Native American elder Nathan Phillips.
The controversy led to further investigation and revealed later that Sandmann had not initiated the confrontation at all. Sandmann and his parents hired a lawyer to sue the media outlets for defamation of character. “A false narrative portrayed ‘confrontation’ as a ‘hate crime’ committed by Nicholas,” stated the lawsuit. No media outlet in the lawsuit responded for further comment.
