Rossi Lorathio Adams II, 26, and owner of a famous Instagram account called Do It For State is facing 20 years in prison for a planned attempt to rob another person of their web domain of a similar name at gunpoint, according to Buzz Feed News. Adams faces being convicted of conspiracy to interfere with commerce by force, threats, and violence.
According to a press release from the Department of Justice, Adams enlisted his cousin to try to force the owner of the doitforstate.com URL to turn it over to them by holding him at gunpoint. Although Adams owns a similar doit4state.com, he continued to purchase the domain without the number four, to no avail. The man refused to sell the domain that he wanted, at which time; Adams decided to take matters into his own hands.
He sent gun emojis to the owner’s friend in an effort to warn them of what was to come if they did not release the domain to him. “Hopkins went to the victims home carrying a stolen gun and a taser,” according to the DOJ. “The victim ultimately gained control of the gun and shot Adams several times before calling the police,” the DOJ continued.
